        Some expressions 

1. Out of the question - not possible or allowed - შეუძლებელი, დაუშვებელი 

Ex. Buying a new house in a pandemic time, was out of the question.

2. In two minds BR. Of two minds AM. - not decided or certain about  something, having two opinions or ideas about something- გაურკვევლობა, გადაწყვეტილების მიღების სირთულე 

Ex. I am of two minds about going outside. It is freezing, but I need to get some fresh air. 

3. Have a head for heights - to be in a high position without being afraid or feeling uncomfortable, to have the mental ability to do something well - შიშის არ ქონა სიმაღლეზე ყოფნისას, თავდაჯერებულობა

Ex. My sister has always been good at maths. I think - she just has a head for numbers

4. Cost an arm and a leg - be extremely expensive - დაუჯერებლად ძვირი. (ქართ) "მამა-პაპის ძვლები აყრია" 

Ex. Her shoes had cost her an arm and a leg. 

5. Catch someone's eye - be noticed by someone - თვალშისაცემი, თვალისმომჭრელი

Ex. A diamond ring on her finger caught my eye.  

6. Get the hang of - learn how to operate something -გაუგო რაღაცას, ისწავლო

Ex. My dad never got to hang of smartphones. 

7. Head in the clouds - be absentminded or impractical - დაბნეული, მოუხერხებელი 

Ex. I must have had my head in the clouds when I purchased this laptop. It doesn't work at all.

Some grammar rules

Frequently asked questions - Structure and written expressions
1.Be careful with appositives:
Sally, the best student in the class, got A in her test
The best student in the class, Sally got A in her test
Subject, App, Verb
App, Subject Verb
2. Commer with coordinate connectors:
And, but, or, so, yet - Subject verb, Coordinate Connector subject-verb.
Ex: She laughed, but she wanted to cry.
3. Number with countable and amount with uncountable
Ex. Number of students, amount of water
4. Invert the subject and verb with place expressions
Place Verb Subject - In the classroom were some old books.
Place, subject verb - In the classroom, I studied very hard.
5. Invert the subject and verb with negatives
We put negative words first and then subject and verb are followed:
no, barely, not, hardly, never, neither, not, only, rarely, scarcely, seldom
Rarely were they so happy.
6. Invert subject and verb with conditionals:
We replace (invert) if with the following: had, should, were
Ex. Were he here, he would help.
Original sentence: If he were here, he would help.
7. Parallel structure with paired conjunctions
both and
either or
neither nor
not only but
Ex. Both Nika and Tatia are San Diego Students.
8. The -er, er structure
The er (more), same structure, The er (more), same structure
Ex. The harder you work, the more you accomplish.
9. Like, alike, alive, live...
alike, alive, alone, afraid, asleep - are predicative adjectives.
Ex. He is alive.
Like, live, the lone, frightened, sleeping, similar, living are adjectives they are used in front of nouns.
Ex. Like father, like son. Live TV, A lone fisherman.
10. Distinguish make and do
make - creating or constructing
Ex. Make a cake, make a mistake...

do - completing or performing
Do homework, do me a favor.
11. difference between other and another
other- not this, but different
another - one more
Ex. Give me another piece of cake, please?
I don't like this book, give me the other.
12. -ed and -ing adjectives
-ing active ( It does the action of the verb)
Ex. Happily playing children.
-ed passive - It receives the action of the verb.

6. Lemon - მწყობრიდან გამოსული მანქანა A vehicle that does not work properly E.g. They sold me a lemon.
7. Peach - სასიამოვნო, კარგი, მშვენიერი A person or thing that is beautiful E.g. You brought me a gift? Ah, you're a peach.
8. Go pear-shaped - წარუმატებლობა, მარცხი To fail; to be unsuccessful E.g. What are we going to do this weekend if our plans go pear-shaped?
9. A plum job - ძალიან კარგი სამუშაოVery good job E.g. He got a plum job in Spain
10. The apple never falls far from the tree - შვილის მსგავსება მშობელთან To say that “the apple never falls far from the tree” is to suggest that a person’s personality traits are close to those of the person’s parents.E.g. Her daughter soon showed her own musical talent, proving that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
11. Bad apple (especially US) - კორუმპირებული, ბოროტი პიროვნება a person who is corrupt or wicked E.g. It is hoped the inquiry will pick out the bad apples in the police force.
12. Upset the apple cart - გეგმების ჩაშლაMeaning: To “upset the apple cart” is to ruin plans. E.g. Look, he's not trying to upset the apple cart—he just needs to meet latrine the day now, that's all.
13. Second banana - მეორე პირი, მთავარზე დაქვემდებარებული A “second banana” is a subordinate, and the “top banana” is the leader. E.g. I generally don't mind playing second banana when I'm with such a legendary comedian, but it would be nice to be the one getting all the laughs once in a while.

17. Peaches and cream - ცხოვრება მშვენიერია When everything is “peaches and cream,” life is going well.E.g. I've heard that women in older times actually bathed with milk to maintain a peaches-and-cream complexion.
18. As American as apple pie - ამერიკული კულტურის და ღირებულების მთავარი წარმომადგენელი “As American as apple pie” means that something is quint essentially representative of American culture or values.E.g. Baseball is as American as apple pie.
19. Speak with a plum in (one's) mouth - მაღალი სოციალური წარმომადგენლებისთვის დამახასიათებელი ლაპარაკი To speak in a manner that is indicative of a high social class. Primarily heard in UK.E.g. He spoke with such a plum in his mouth that none of us working-class sods could stand to listen to him.
20. Sour grapes - კრიტიკა მოიწვდომელი სიამოვნებაზე One is said to have “sour grapes” when one be little something one covets but cannot obtain.E.g. Criticizing it is just sour grapes, but you still really want it.
